You could be overlooking significant advantages from your credit card. Payment networks such as Mastercard and Visa frequently provide benefits that extend far beyond the features promoted by individual card issuers.

Mastercard stands out by granting its World, World Elite, and World Legend cardholders entry to premium experiences and travel savings that are rarely highlighted on the websites of card providers.

During a trip to New York City in 2026, Mastercard provided me with an opportunity to sample several of these advantages personally, though all views shared here are entirely my own. Below, I outline some under-the-radar perks that are definitely worth exploring.

Get Savings on a Lavish Soho House Stay

Soho House operates as an exclusive private members' club, delivering a contemporary take on the traditional country club vibe. Guests enjoy access to invite-only dining spots and relaxation areas, and certain properties even allow for overnight accommodations.

Holders of a Mastercard World Legend card qualify for a yearly $100 reduction on bookings at participating Soho House properties, along with a complimentary one-year Soho Friends membership. This membership unlocks discounted rates typically reserved for members. For even a single evening's stay, these incentives can easily amount to several hundred dollars in value.

Many Soho House venues are situated in bustling urban centers, though others occupy scenic countryside spots, like the renowned Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire, England.

My stay at Soho House New York, located in the vibrant Meatpacking District, left a strong impression, particularly the expansive Big Classic room. Measuring 700 square feet, it qualifies as remarkably spacious by New York City hotel norms, featuring a luxurious freestanding tub positioned directly opposite the bed.

As a members-only venue, it encourages leisurely pacing—whether you're settling into a table with a novel and a hot beverage or enjoying a drink beside the rooftop pool. The unhurried atmosphere offered a refreshing break from the fast pace of the rest of my itinerary.

Why It Pays to Take Advantage

Rooms like the one I occupied often command prices exceeding $1,500 per night at standard rates. However, the Soho Friends membership delivers up to a 20% reduction, and layering on the $100 Mastercard World Legend credit can further lower the expense. For one night, this combination might yield savings approaching $400.

Despite these reductions, stays at many Soho House locations remain on the pricier side. That said, if you're planning an indulgent escape at a high-end hotel, the discounts can effectively offset the yearly fee of a qualifying credit card.

Additionally, select Soho House properties, especially those overseas, offer more budget-friendly options. At the time this was written, I spotted rooms available for under $300 through the Soho Friends program.

Step-by-Step Booking Guide

Activating the Soho Friends perk with your qualifying Mastercard involves a few specific steps. Begin by registering via Soho House's dedicated page designed for cardholders and create your profile.

You'll input your contact information, and initially, the site may display a $130 joining fee. This changes to $0 only after you provide details of your eligible Mastercard and proceed.

Entering payment info when a charge is still visible on-screen can feel disconcerting, raising worries about unintended billing. Note that attempting to use a non-qualifying Mastercard triggers an error. Enrollment for Bilt Palladium Card users isn't fully operational yet, but Mastercard anticipates rollout within the coming month.

Once enrolled, expect an email containing your $100 credit voucher. Redeem it by showing the voucher at the front desk upon arrival—it's not applied automatically online. The Soho Friends membership activation is valid through December 31, 2027.

Secure Exclusive Events and Coveted Dining Spots

Beyond accommodations, Mastercard curates a range of members-only culinary and leisure activities. World Elite and World Legend cardholders gain access to upscale restaurant bookings, while every Mastercard user can reserve special experiences.

When traveling to prominent cities across the U.S. or abroad, it's smart to browse Mastercard's platform for any itinerary restaurants included in their special collection, assuming you hold an eligible card. During my review, Mastercard offered superior availability compared to popular apps like Resy for the one-Michelin-starred spot Shmoné.

Availability tends to be selective, and these dining options aren't present in all key destinations.

The experiences open to all Mastercard holders, while geographically limited, boast impressive diversity. Choices span hands-on cooking sessions, theater dinners, Formula 1 events, priority museum entries, and guided architectural walks. Offerings evolve frequently, with prices typically falling between $25 and $400, though premium selections can reach into the thousands.

Why These Are Valuable for Seasoned Travelers

For frequent explorers who've exhausted standard attractions, landing a scarce reservation or an intimate workshop delivers a truly memorable upgrade.

I sampled an after-hours bagel-making session at the legendary Russ & Daughters, a bagel institution dating back to 1914. Exclusive to Mastercard holders, these intimate gatherings host around 10 people, fostering personalized instruction from master artisans.

This setup elevates it above generic tours, blending expert techniques with insider stories on the craft and its heritage. Priced at $80 per attendee, it's a preferable alternative to a lavish meal out. Our guide shared intricate insights, and I even practiced retrieving bagels from the production line while sampling piping-hot ones fresh from baking.

Though I observed rather than fully joined, attendees generally depart with their handmade batches to enjoy later.

Simple Booking Process for Experiences

Reserving these events proves far simpler than Soho House arrangements. Navigate to the Priceless site, filter by location or type, pick your desired date and slot, and complete payment using your Mastercard.

Be aware that spots fill rapidly, so prompt action is key.

American Airlines card users might redeem AAdvantage miles for these, but flights typically yield superior value. Valuations place American miles at about 1.3 cents apiece, surpassing the 1 cent per mile for experiences.

Everyday Advantages You Shouldn't Ignore

Mastercard's upscale offerings shine brightly, yet pairing them with utilitarian perks maximizes your card's potential. World Legend and World Elite holders, for instance, receive a 10% discount on pre-scheduled Lyft airport transfers valid until January 31, 2027.

This stacks with another perk: Complete three Lyft rides in a month using your qualifying Mastercard for $5 Lyft credit. Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard holders earn a generous $10 after three trips.

Regardless of plans for luxury stays or events, these everyday savings add up without much hassle. Like the premium options, they're seldom spotlighted by issuers, but activating them proves rewarding with minimal effort.
